Spiritual empowerment involves practices such as meditation, visualization, tuning into body clues and redefining old belief systems that are not serving you. An interesting study was done years ago with elephants that illustrates the idea of learned limitations. Baby elephants were kept in a very small fenced in area for years. They could only roam around this small space until reaching a barrier fence on all sides that kept them contained in that area. Several years later the fencing was removed and instead of roaming free and wandering into the new unlimited space, the elephants walked round and round in the same small space that the fence had previously contained them in. Their brain was not “wired” to see the new freedom but instead repeated the learned limitations of walking in the area the fence had contained them in. Although very sad,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], this fascinating experiment illustrates how most people live their lives as they move into adulthood. How many self imposed limitations are you living?
The first step in breaking free and creating a new life with upward and infinite boundaries is to stop in your tracks and examine your life. Many don’t even realize they are living within that fenced in arena. Repeating the same daily routines and thinking the same thoughts without challenging the paradigms they stem from keeps people stuck. Where do you start? If you are a high school, college,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or university student it’s a good time to take stock of your situation, calculate the ups and downs of a career path, and your direction in life. This can take some time, so it doesn’t necessarily mean you’ve got all the answers on the tip of your tongue, but it does mean taking a good look at your life and making a provisional life plan.
The plan should have long term objectives and short term goals to reach it. It might be that your long term objective is to be happily married, have two or three grown up children who are living stable lives, own a large home on the beach, drive a Porsche,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and spend weekends sailing your yacht around the coast.
Have you ever felt that total tranquility; a complete sense that everything is just perfect,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]? I hope so because it’s this sense of balance that we should all stride for. It is where we have progressed in our life and feel that we have got to where we want to be and maintaining it for as long as possible. It’s this sense that makes all of life’s frustrations seem insignificant.
The truth of the matter is it is a tough call to have this harmony and satisfaction of breathing clean air, having minimum responsibilities and yet everything is ticking over just fine,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], eating and drinking excellent food in just the right quantities,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], getting the right amount of exercise to feel wholesome, loving your loved ones without needing to devote all your time to them, having time for yourself to read books that make you stronger, building a project that gives you a deep sense of satisfaction,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and finally feeling the breeze of harmony around you. I could go on, but I think you get an idea of the picture I am trying to paint.
So how should one arrive at this point? For some it happens at a certain time in their lifespan when they least expect it while for others it comes from dedication over years of struggling to reach this plateau. Some reach it quickly and others never reach it apart from when they are taking a vacation. If, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], you fancy the idea of arriving early on and maintaining it for a prolonged period then a plan of action is called for.
Balance is the key I keep telling myself. My major goal is to find tranquility, but in order to find it I must be in overall harmony with my life. This moment could be exactly what I am talking about, but then my planned trip on Sunday will change my state of stability and it’s too late to opt for another plan. I suppose I’m apprehensive that the balance I feel could summersault leaving me loose from its grip.
To me everything has a purpose in life whether good or bad. Each step trod should have significance to reach a goal whether it is hourly, daily, monthly,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], medium time-span, long term,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], or lifelong. When faced with this scenario I understand why the effort is worth it, why the sacrifices all contribute to the end result. Every step taken should afford benefit in some way whether negative or positive. Learn from the mistakes made to enhance the future outcome.
So if I were to make a suggestion I would recommend investing time and effort into self development and a good way to start is
With food in my belly I hoped to sleep once again, but couldn’t, as I was still fully conscious. While I lay in bed wondering why I was so restless I thought to myself, ‘am I alright?’ A silly thing to think about as I felt great; never better! I couldn’t remember the last time I had raided the fridge, so it must be that I am writing this at four o’clock in the morning for a very good reason. While I lay there I became anxious to write about life.
This knowledge and experience cannot be understood fully until that point is reached because it is a level of spirituality and inner wisdom that many have the fortune to meet in their existence,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].

I woke up at 3.30am wide awake with the urge to raid the fridge; out came a pot of Sally Sherman’s tuna salad. I polished it off and the urge continued, so the next thing meant feeling around suddenly stumbling over a box of egg matzos. I love European style unsalted butter on matzos. A cup of tea to down it and back to bed I went!
It doesn’t need to be carved in stone as everything could change by some degree, and that means you should change according to your needs and desires. The very purpose of putting pen to paper and writing it allows you to keep in touch with the reality you are living. Those notes can be adjusted or rewritten in accordance with your mood swings, but all in all you are in control of your destiny.
By moving forward and encapsulating the lessons of these life stages i.e. it’s a learning ground to reach the plateau and by living the experience it provides inner strength and depth in ones own life to give real meaning to existence. In other words taking a step at a time,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], in a meaningful manner, with the solution grasped and understood it provides the impetus to reach success and a life of achievement.

Despite this known toxicity, the majority of chemicals remain unregulated.

Avoid secondhand tobacco smoke in the home, car, restaurants, bars, stores, and other public places.
Make informed decisions about products you buy and use. Check out the Household Products Database, a service of the National Institutes of Health, and the Environmental Working Group’s Health and Toxics Database. These resources offer a wealth of information to help you make healthier choices in your every day life.
Simple Steps, Big Payoff
And don’t forget about food. Simply put, the right foods can be used to your advantage to “cancer-proof” your lifestyle. Plant foods are your ticket to detoxifying from a toxic lifestyle. By plant foods we meant the vegetables, fruit, whole grains, beans, peas, nuts and seeds that we’ve discussed so frequently in these newsletters. From the anti-cancer antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, to the nutrients known to aid with detoxification, plant foods are a must.

If possible, eat foods grown without fertilizers, pesticides, and growth hormones the majority of the time.
Exposure to chemicals during pregnancy and childhood is particularly damaging to health.

Many chemicals in use today are known and suspected carcinogens. Carcinogen means cancer causing.

Choose foods, home and garden products, and toys in a way that minimizes your child’s exposure to potentially toxic substances.

Further, single chemical testing doesn’t reflect reality. All of us are exposed to dozens, and even hundreds, of chemicals at a time.
Only a few hundred of these 80,000+ chemicals have been tested for safety.
There is no doubt that obesity is a leading cause of cancer and other chronic diseases in this country. Make your body a priority and make sure you’re not among the two-thirds of Americans who are overweight and obese. Exercising regularly is another known cancer prevention technique, so lace up those sneakers and get moving. Always avoid tobacco in any form.
Wear a headset when using a cell phone, text instead of calling,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and keep calls brief.
The scientific evidence most solidly supports the major causes of cancer as being tobacco use, obesity, alcohol, infections, hormones, and sunlight. According to Thun, the report implies that pollutants are the major cause of cancer, but this is far from a settled issue.2
Avoid exposure to endocrine-disrupting chemicals and known or suspected carcinogens when trying to get pregnant and throughout pregnancy. This includes BPA,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], a known endocrine disruptor.
Despite what seems like a slam dunk on environmental hazards and cancer, this report is not without controversy. Michael Thun, MD, a respected physician and epidemiologist with the American Cancer Society points out that there is no doubt that environmental pollution is of profound importance to human health and the health of the planet. But he fears that the report may minimize the focus on other known,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], modifiable causes of cancer that currently offer the best opportunity for cancer prevention.2

The best approach is to hedge your bets in all areas of cancer prevention. It makes sense to take the precautions (detailed above) presented by the PCP. But it also makes a whole lot of sense to tackle the things we can control in our daily lives.
Go the extra mile
Avoid ultraviolet light by using sunscreen and proper sun-protective clothing. Never use tanning beds.
Filter your drinking water. Use bottled water only if tap water is known to be contaminated with substances or microbes that cannot be filtered out.
If a job exposes you to chemicals, remove shoes before entering your house. Wash your work clothes separately from the family’s regular laundry to minimize kids’ exposure.

They act as tools to help improve, and change a person's life. Many practitioners specialise in one specific subject, however,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], the subjects can be combined to give the client a more ‘powerful and successful’ outcome and the practitioner a wider range of ‘tools and techniques’ to use.
As with Life Coaching, CBT aims to improve an individual's state of mind, focusing on the here and now, and providing ways to move past issues, and challenges,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], on the way to a brighter future. CBT focuses on aiding emotional change, and can be very useful in helping a client who is presenting with issues such as anxiety, depression, phobias, fears,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
However, sometimes extra support is needed, and that's where CBT can aid a life coach in their work. Someone who has phobias or fears will not forget them immediately after one session. They need help when they leave the session to cope in their everyday world.

Techniques like the ‘new behaviour generator’ and the ‘superhero visualisation’ benefit a client's imaginings of their future.
Put together, Life Coaching, NLP and CBT, make a powerful mixture for helping people to effect change in their lives. Change that will really make a difference!
NLP too can focus on issues, and aid a client to improve the way they think about themselves, and the issues they are facing. The difference with NLP, however, is that it can (but doesn't have to) look at the past, for reasons why a client is going through their current experience.
Many life coaches do not take a client into the past - leaving this to the realms of psychotherapy. When combining Life Coaching,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], CBT and NLP, we do not have to probe into a client's past, but it may just give us an understanding of why a phobia or fear is presenting as an issue.

Dr. Kataria was conducting research on the effects of laughter on health and was amazed by the number of studies showing the profound physiological and psychological benefits of laughter.
Although some simple Yoga techniques are incorporated into Laughter Yoga sessions--such as deep breathing with inhalation through the nose and prolonged exhalation, as well as shoulder, neck and stretching exercises--you won't be asked to go into "Downward Dog Position" or the "Triangle Pose" during Laughter Yoga. The main reason it's called Laughter Yoga is because the word "Yoga" means union, or the integration of body with mind and soul.
Laughter Yoga is easy to do and can it help you to improve your health and increase your sense of wellbeing. So look for a Laughter Club in your area and join in!
